The Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT)

The Institute for Mobility and Transport, I.P., also known by the acronym ‘IMT’ - the central government body responsible for coordinating transport - is an independent entity with administrative and financial autonomy and jurisdiction over the national territory.

The IMT includes a functionally independent railway regulatory unit responsible for the economic and technical regulation of the railway sector.

The IMT's mission includes the regulation, supervision, coordination and planning of transport. The IMT is also responsible for supervising and regulating the activities of those operating in this sector, as well as promoting safety and quality standards and ensuring the protection of consumer rights.
