Road Safety Authority

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is a new Agency being established to take a lead role in the area of road safety. The RSA is a body under the aegis of the Department of Transport responsible for:

• promotion of road safety
• accident and road safety research
• driver testing and licensing
• vehicle standards
• road haulage enforcement functions
• registration of driving instructors
• driver vocational training
• compulsory basic training for motorcyclists
